Our History
Founded in 1914 by Slovenian immigrants seeking a communal space, the Slovenian National Home in Cleveland, Ohio, stands as a testament to their enduring legacy. A century later, in 2014, we celebrated our centennial, welcoming guests from across the United States and Europe to our venue.
We are home to the largest Slovenian hall in the country, is adorned with the iconic "Gaspari curtain," a masterpiece by renowned artist Maksim Gaspari. This curtain, titled 'Mother Slovenia,' embodies the essence of our culture, featuring prominent Slovenian figures like poet France Preseren and writer Ivan Cankar. From weddings to meetings, our halls have hosted countless celebrations. Today, we invite you to embrace the spirit of our founders and join us in honoring our shared heritage of HEART – HOME – HERITAGE.
